On Wednesday morning, comedy king Atze Schröder planted a tree in the FAME FOREST at Barclays Arena in Hamburg-Schnelsen in the very best of weather. He was presented with the apple tree and the obligatory plaque for the new tree patronage by Steve Schwenkglenks, Managing Director of Barclays Arena: ‘Atze Schröder usually makes his fans smile. Today he even managed to make the sun shine.’
The idea of the eco-social project FAME FOREST is based on the idea of the non-profit organisation ‘Das Geld hängt an den Bäumen’ and the Anschutz Entertainment Group (AEG), which operates the Barclays Arena in Hamburg. The idea is simple, fun and meaningful: a tree is dedicated to every star who is a guest at the Barclays Arena. The stars and starlets receive a wooden certificate with their name, the date and the coordinates of the tree. In this way, the FAME FOREST continues to grow with each new tree.
At the official ground-breaking ceremony for the FAME FOREST on 30 October 2019, Fanta 4 member Smudo and Sasha laid the foundation stone for the FAME FOREST together with the Senator for the Environment, Jens Kerstan. Over the past few months, almost 80 trees have been planted in the ground, which have now grown into a small forest. No matter where you look, you will always see a tree with a star’s name on it: Michael Bublé, David Guetta, Seeed, Samy Deluxe, Die Drei ???, Andrea Berg. The list is as long as the tree species are diverse.
‘It couldn’t have been better today,’
said comedian Atze Schröder, who was delighted with the excellent weather as he planted his tree. ‘You can feel everywhere that this is not just a marketing idea, but a real commitment. Real feelings,’ added Schröder.
Atze Schröder hints at another surprise
The comedy star was so enthusiastic that he hinted that he would like to go one better: ‘Come to my show on 14 February in the Barclays Arena. Maybe I’ll surprise you,’ Schröder hinted in conclusion as he left the FAME FOREST in a good mood after an hour and countless photos.
