The idea of FAME FOREST originates from social entrepreneur Jan Schierhorn (Das Geld hängt an den Bäumen gGmbH) and the Anschutz Entertainment Group (AEG), which owns and operates the Barclays Arena in Hamburg, as well as the Uber Arena and the Uber Eats Music Hall in Berlin.
“We create ecological and social projects that are fun. CSR you can be a part of.”

“We had been looking for a local, ecologically meaningful project that suits us for some time. The FAME FOREST is a great solution and provides a breeding ground for the Anschutz Entertainment Group's CSR project AEG1Earth, in which all our arenas worldwide are involved.”

In Germany, AEG owns and operates two of the most successful arenas in the world: the Barclays Arena Hamburg and the Uber Arena Berlin. The Barclays Arena is the largest multipurpose arena in Northern Germany, accommodating up to 15,000 spectators. Each year, it attracts 1 million visitors to more than 140 events.
The Uber Arena is the “must-play venue” in the German capital for all national and international stars. Accommodating up to 17,000 spectators, over 1.5 million visitors flock to up to 170 sports, music, and entertainment events annually.
The Uber Arena in Berlin is located directly at the Uber Platz, developed by AEG, which offers a diverse experience with a hotel, cinema, bowling alley, cafés, restaurants, and bars. The Uber Platz is the vibrant heart of the dynamically growing urban district along the East Side Gallery, which attracts up to seven million visitors each year.
A central component of the Uber Platz, alongside the Uber Arena, is the Uber Eats Music Hall, which combines the atmosphere of a club with the capabilities of a multifunctional arena. The Uber Eats Music Hall, also owned and operated by AEG, has a capacity of up to 4,500 visitors for concerts, shows, and corporate events.
Additionally, AEG is the owner of the ten-time German ice hockey champion, Eisbären Berlin.
Das Geld hängt an den Bäumen is a non-profit organisation that creates jobs for forgotten people by harvesting unused and forgotten fruit trees in Hamburg. The collected fruit is processed into juices and spritzers by DGHADB employees. The proceeds are used to finance the jobs created by the organisation, giving disadvantaged people a chance on the primary labour market.
DGHADB will manage the site in future and harvest the apple trees. Some of the fruit will then be given to the artists performing in the arena, but the majority of the harvest will be processed into apple juice spritzers, which will be sold by DGHADB. The money raised in turn flows into the non-profit limited company to finance the jobs created. The founder has been working on a voluntary basis from day one.
Barclays has been operating successfully in the private customer business in Germany for more than 30 years and is one of the leading providers of credit cards with a genuine credit function. The financial services provider also offers call money accounts and hire purchase financing via Amazon.de. The Hamburg branch of Barclays Bank Ireland PLC has over 700 employees and serves more than 2 million customers. Further information can be found at www.barclays.de.
The partners of the FAME FOREST project played an important role in its realisation. In addition to Barclays Germany, which gave the arena its name and supported the project financially and in its realisation, HAMBURG WASSER also played a major role in the creation of the forest. After all, the forest is now taking root on a piece of land owned by the water supplier.
